Hamilton Visits Syracuse And Hosts Toronto And Syracuse This Week

The Hamilton Bulldogs (American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) will hit the ice for four games this week. On Tuesday, March 3rd the Bulldogs will head to Syracuse to face-off against the Crunch (AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets) at 7:00 p.m. at Onondaga County War Memorial War at Oncenter. The 'Dogs last three games of the week will be played on home ice at Copps Coliseum. The Bulldogs will meet the Crunch for the second time this week on Saturday, March 7th at 7:00 p.m. On Friday, March 6th at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, March 8th at 4:00 p.m. Hamilton will compete against their archrivals the Toronto Marlies (AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs).

The Bulldogs went 1-2-0-0 this past week, bringing their record to 36-23-2-0. The 'Dogs hosted the Rochester Americans on Friday, February 27th, and came up short in a 4-1 defeat. On Saturday, February 28th Hamilton took on the Toronto Marlies in front of a crowd of 7,163 at Copps Coliseum, and were defeated 7-1. For their last game of the week the Bulldogs travelled to Cleveland and earned a 3-1 victory over the Lake Erie Monsters on Sunday, March 1st.

Arrive early, as Magician Greg Frewin will be performing a spectacular illusion at centre ice before the game, and Canadian Idol winner Brian Melo will perform a short set during an intermission.

There are currently over 40 former Bulldogs in the NHL at this time. Over 60 percent of the players on Hamilton's all-time roster have played in a minimum of one NHL game. Three former Bulldogs head or assistant coaches (Doug Jarvis, Claude Julien, and Geoff Ward) are currently in a coaching capacity in the NHL. Here are a few highlights and accomplishments of ex-'Dogs from this past week:

- Dallas C Mike Ribeiro added four points this past week, earning an assist in a 3-1 loss to St. Louis (Feb. 26), and two goals and another assist in a 4-3 defeat to Anaheim (Feb. 28)

- Montreal G Jaroslav Halak earned three consecutive wins last week. Halak stopped all 34 shots on goal for a 3-0 shutout to Vancouver (Feb.24), turned away 35 of 38 shots on net for a 4-3 overtime victory to Philadelphia (Feb.27), and saved 46 of 48 shots for a 3-2 win over San Jose (Feb. 28)

- Boston RW Micheal Ryder earned five points last week, scoring a goal and an assist in the 6-1 victory over Florida (Feb. 24), and picking up two more markers and an assist in a 6-0 shutout win over Anaheim (Feb. 26)

- Montreal C Thomas Plekanec picked up five points this past week, with a goal and an assist in a 3-0 victory shut out to Vancouver (Feb. 24), a goal and an assist in the 4-3 overtime victory over Philadelphia (Feb. 27), and an assist in the 3-2 win over San Jose (Feb. 28)

BULLDOUGS FOUNDATION: Ryan White was named as the Community Player of the Month for January. Throughout January, Ryan dedicated his time in support of various Bulldogs Foundation sponsored events. Despite his commitment to training and his hard work on the ice, Ryan managed to find time in his schedule to give back to the community by visiting schools in an effort to encourage and inspire youth throughout Hamilton.

Ryan White and Brock Trotter visited the Meadowlands LCBO for a PMA/Appletons Jamaica Rum promotion on Saturday, February 7th. Cedrick Desjardins and David Desharnais visited the Millcroft LCBO for a PMA/Appletons Jamaica Rum promotion on Saturday, February 7th.

The Bulldogs held their second annual Casino Night on Tuesday, February 24th. All the Bulldogs players participated alongside fans in various casino games including Blackjack, Crown and Anchor and Texas Hold'em poker.

Thomas Beauregard and Bruiser visited an LCBO in Hamilton on Saturday, February 28th for a PMA/Appletons Jamaica Rum promotion.
