Condors get even with Victoria, win 2-1

Victoria, B.C. - The Bakersfield Condors (30-25-2-1, 63pts) rebounded against the Victoria Salmon Kings (27-28-1-2, 57pts), winning 2-1 in front of 3,248 fans at Save-On-Foods Memorial Center Friday night.

Victoria struck first, as for the second straight game D Ryan Turek notched the game's opening goal. Just 47 seconds into the contest Turek squeaked a backhander home to put Victoria up 1-0.

The Condors finally solved G David Shantz in the second frame after over four periods of shutout hockey. F Tibor Varga banged home his first ECHL goal at 12:32, sliding a rebound through the five-hole and tying the game at 1-1. 2:04 later, LW Guillaume Lefebvre gave the Condors a 2-1 lead when he popped a rebound into the top corner of the net.

The Condors held Victoria to just 4 shots in the second and only 12 over the final two periods, as Bakersfield shut down Victoria in the third to earn a 2-1 win. G Brian Stewart stopped 22 of 23 shots in the contest, picking up his 7th win in his last 8 starts.
