Alaska Aces News Release

Bryan Pitton made 29 saves on 30 shots, and Jordan Foreman and Jason Pitton each had a goal and an assist as the Stockton Thunder beat the Alaska Aces 4-1 at Stockton Arena on Friday night. The loss snapped Alaska's seven-game unbeaten streak and five-game road winning streak. The Aces fell to 33-20-4 on the year, and remained two points behind Las Vegas for the top spot in the Western Conference. They sit one point ahead of Idaho with two games in hand for first in the Mountain Division. The Aces continue their three-game road trip with the Thunder on Saturday night. The Aces and Thunder set the tone physically when Alex Dzielski and Jordan Bendfield fought two seconds into the game. Neither team tallied in the opening period as the Thunder outshot the Aces 14-9. The best chance of the period came on a rebound from Stockton's P.A. Bureau, but reigning goaltender of the month, Adam Courchaine made a brilliant glove save to keep the game scoreless through one.

Just one second into the middle period, Dzielski again dropped the gloves - this time with Stockton's Garet Hunt. Alaska eventually broke the scoreless tie early in the second when Scott Howes walked off the left wing boards, and lifted a backhand into the top right corner to make it 1-0 Aces at 2:44. Stockton answered when Jesse Gimblett poked home a rebound at 6:11 to tie the score. The Thunder took their first lead on a power play when Jordan Foreman set up Jason Pitton for a goal on a shot-pass at 14:36. Things continued to get more heated between the two rivals as the period progressed. The Aces failed to convert on a two-man advantage late in the second, and the Thunder took a 2-1 lead into the final period.

The game remained tight until late. Foreman scored off an offensive zone face-off at 16:36 to extend the Stockton lead to 3-1, and Chris Lawrence added an empty net goal at 18:28 to cap the scoring

Adam Courchaine (12-7-2) made 30 saves on 33 shots, taking the loss. Bryan Pitton (17-7-3) earned the win, making 29 saves on 30 shots. The Aces power play went 0-7, while the Thunder went 1-3. The Aces were outshot by the Thunder 34-30 in the game.

The Aces will continue their three-game road trip with the Thunder on Saturday and Sunday. The Aces will return home to begin a three-game set with the Victoria Salmon Kings on Mar. 9th, 11th, and 12th. Tickets are on sale now.
