Edmonton Assigns D Johan Motin from Oklahoma City

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks, announced the Edmonton Oilers have assigned defenseman Johan Motin (YO-hawn MOH-teen) to the Thunder from the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League, and center Chris Lawrence has been loaned from the Thunder to the Houston Aeros of the AHL on a professional tryout agreement (PTO).

Motin, 21, will wear jersey #5 and was selected by the Oilers in the fourth round (103rd overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. This season, he has scored four points (1g-3a) and totaled 30 penalty minutes in 34 games with Oklahoma City.

The 6-foot-2, 202-pound defenseman skated with the Oilers in the 2010 Vancouver Canucks YoungStars Tournament and made his NHL debut last season on Mar. 3 against the Chicago Blackhawks.

The native of Kariskoga, Sweden has suited up in 89 career AHL games with Oklahoma City and Springfield, totaling two goals, eight assists and 63 penalty minutes. Previously, he skated in 117 career games through three seasons with Farjestads BK Karlstad of the Swedish Elite League and Bofors IK, notching 14 points (2g-12a) and 64 penalty minutes.

Lawrence heads to the AHL for the second time this season, previously skating in six games with the Worcester Sharks while scoring a goal. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound forward currently stands as the Thunder leader in goals (21) and points (46) in 49 games.

Selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning (89th overall) in the third round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, the 24-year old has totaled 179 games in the AHL with Norfolk and Worcester, scoring 32 points (11g-21a) and 133 penalty minutes.
