(Boise, ID) - Marty Flichel buried two power-play goals and Adrien Lemay turned aside 38 of 40 Las Vegas shots, propelling the Idaho Steelheads to a 4-2 win over the Wranglers in front of 4,487 fans at Qwest Arena Friday night.

With the win, Idaho (28-18-4-8) moved within three points of the conference leading Wranglers in the ECHL's Western Conference standings. It was Idaho's fourth consecutive win and the team has now picked up points in the standings in 14 of its past 16 games.

At 11:39 of the first period, Flichel's power-play goal got Idaho on the board first, snapping a streak of eight consecutive games where the opposition scored first. Mark Derlago and Weston Tardy assisted on Flichel's 18th of the season as the first period ended with Idaho on top, 1-0.

The teams would trade goals in the second. First, Las Vegas tied the game on a Josh Lunden rebound goal at 5:19. Forty seconds later, however, Derlago's 28th of the season off an offensive-zone face-off put Idaho back on top, 2-1. Just moments after a highlight-reel save by Lemay, Lunden got his second rebound goal of the night to even the score at 10:24 of the second period. Idaho would take the lead back before the stanza ended, though, on Flichel's second power-play tally of the night, giving Idaho a 3-2 lead going into the third period.

Lemay and the Steelheads defensemen kept Las Vegas at bay in the third period, but things got tense when Dustin Friesen was whistled for holding with just 3:34 left in the game, giving the Wranglers the opportunity to tie the game with the man advantage. Idaho held firm, though, killing off the penalty. Then, with just 51 seconds left to play, Evan Barlow patiently buried an empty-net goal from center ice to ice the game. Barlow now has 15 goals in 25 games since returning to the Steelheads from Europe on December 31.

Lemay is now 4-0 in net for Idaho after stopping his ECHL-career-best 38 shots on 40 attempts for Idaho. Michael Ouzas made several splendid saves in net for Las Vegas, but takes the loss after stopping 29 of 32 Steelhead shots.

Idaho and Las Vegas wrap up their three-game set on Saturday night at 7:10 PM at Qwest Arena. It's "Shift to CNG Night" with the Steelheads as fans will have the opportunity to learn about the benefits of alternative fuel sources like compressed natural gas (CNG). Tickets are available at www.idahosteelheads.com or by calling 208.331.TIXS.
