
Jackals Suffer 5-3 Loss To Road Warriors

Greenville, S.C. - The Elmira Jackals dropped a 5-3 decision at the BI-LO Center on Saturday night to the Greenville Road Warriors. The loss ended Elmira's winning streak at four games.
Former Jackal Brendan Connolly scored the game's first goal, redirecting a shot by Brandon Wong into the net at 5:26 of the opening frame. Wes Cunningham, who skated his first two professional seasons with the Jackals, also had an assist on the play.
A.J. Perry sent in a rebound from an R.J. Anderson shot at 9:33 as a power play ended to tie the game, 1-1.
Michael Dubuc batted a feed from Justin Donati into the net on a backhand at 1:09 of the second period on the power play to give Elmira a 2-1 lead. The assist extended Donati's point streak to five games. He would later add another assist and has 13 points (6g-7a) in that stretch. Yannick Tifu, skating in his 400th professional game, collected an assist as well to extend his point streak to six games (5g-6a).
Marc-Olivier Vallerand notched his team-leading 22nd goal of the season at 10:14, poking in a loose puck in the crease to tie the game, 2-2.
The Road Warriors scored three times in the third period to put Elmira away. Wong redirected a Brad Cole shot past Jackals goaltender Marco Cousineau at 13:47 for the go-ahead goal, 3-2.
At 16:30 Sean Berkstresser deflected a Matt Schepke shot past Cousineau to make it 4-2.
Justin Bowers wristed a puck in from the left circle at 19:29 on the power play for Greenville's final goal, 5-2.
Tristin Llewellyn backhanded a puck in with under seven seconds left for his first professional goal, 5-3.
Cousineau made 25 saves on 30 shots as his four-game winning streak ended. He fell to 17-12-4-0. Road Warriors goaltender Nic Riopel stopped 21 of 24 shots to improve to 19-11-1-0.
The Jackals and the Road Warriors battle on Sunday at 4:05 p.m.
