Bakersfield Condors News Release

Thursday, December 26 Attendance: 4,884 Bakersfield Bounces Fresno on Boxing Day

The Condors improved to 8-0 against the Falcons with a 5-3 win the day after Christmas. Bakersfield opened up a 2-0 lead in this one, courtesy of a Jeff Goldie goal in the first period and a Jason Ralph shorthanded goal 1:04 into the second frame. Later in the period, Fresno got on the board with Tyler Prosofsky's rebound tally. Christoffer Norgren put the Condors back in front by two with a power play goal in the waning seconds of the middle frame. Both teams scored twice in the third period, with Nate Anderson sealing the victory with just 2:17 left to play.

Friday, December 27 Fresno Finally Wins One

The two teams met again on Friday in Fresno, as the Falcons handed the Condors a 5-4 shootout loss. Bakersfield held a 2-0 lead during the second period behind a pair of Jon Sorg tallies. Fresno scored in the second period on the power play to make it 2-1, but the goal also signaled the last shot Kevin St. Pierre faced on the weekend. He left the game with a pulled groin and was replaced by Fredrik Jensen. Bakersfield made it 3-1 in the third on a Jeff Goldie tally on the power play, but the Falcons were not dead. They scored just 13 seconds after play resumed to again cut the lead to one. They tied it a couple minutes later and then took the lead on the power play with less than eight minutes remaining. Christian Skoryna scored late in the third period to tie the game at 4-4, but the Condors couldn't beat Terry Friesen in the shootout, taking their fifth consecutive shootout loss.

Saturday, December 28 San Diego Wins Big

The Condors played a strong opening frame in San Diego on Saturday night, but trailed 1-0 after 20 minutes. Shawn Byram tied the contest up just 17 seconds into the second frame, but the rest of the period decided the Condors fate. San Diego bounced back, pounding the Bakersfield net with 24 shots and lighting the lamp six times. Clayton Read scored three times for his first career hat trick. Jamie Cooke added a third period tally, which Byram assisted on for his fifth multi-point game of the season. Jensen also assisted on the goal, but the damage had been done and the Condors suffered the 7-2 defeat.
