LAST WEEK:

12/27 LEXINGTON 5, GREENSBORO 2 ¨ The Generals had a franchise-tying five game winning streak snapped in their first game after Christmas break. The Men O' War scored three unanswered goals in the first period, putting the Generals in a hole they couldn't dig out of. Matt Turek and Sam Ftorek scored the Generals goals.

12/28 CHARLOTTE 4, GREENSBORO 2 ¨ For the second straight night, the first period did the Generals in, as they lost to the Checkers in regulation for the first time this season in five games. The Generals scored both their goals in the final ten minutes of the game after the contest was already out of reach, with Shane Campbell and Matt Turek netting the goals. The loss prevented Greensboro from claiming the Carolina Cup for winning the season series between the two clubs.

12/29 GREENSBORO 3, ATLANTIC CITY 1 ¨ As disappointing as the two home losses were, taking a ten-hour overnight bus ride to defeat the first place Boardwalk Bullies was just what the Generals needed. Ole Kjenstad, playing his first game since November 16, put the Generals on the board in the first period for a 1-0 lead. Matt Turek upped the advantage to 2-0 midway through the second period. Atlantic City stormed the Generals in the opening minutes of the third period, getting their only goal to cut the gap to 2-1, but just over a minute later Rod Aldoff connected for his first goal of the season for the final margin. Daniel Berthiaume played a sensational game in net for the Generals, stopping 32 of 33 shots for the victory. He was at his best in the third period, saving 13 of 14 shots, several of which were point blank opportunities.
