Kingfish Shore Up Roster

Baton Rouge Kingfish News Release


The Baton Rouge Kingfish announced that they have acquired goaltender Niklas Sundberg and forward Mike Oliveira in two separate transactions today.

Sundberg was assigned to the Kingfish from the Hartford Wolfpack of the American Hockey League. The Stockholm, Sweden, native began the season with the Charlotte Checkers where he posted an 8-6-0 record and a 3.27 goals against average.

He was recalled by Hartford from Charlotte on December 26th but did not appear in a game while in the AHL.

The Kingfish also acquired centerman Mike Oliveira in a trade with the Augusta Lynx for cash.

Oliveira began the season with the Jackson Bandits before being traded to Augusta on November 30th.

In 22 games this season with the Bandits, he tallied 6 goals and 5 assists for 11 points in addition to picking up 16 penalty minutes. The West Lorne, Ontario, native has four points off 1 goal and three assists in nine games with the Lynx.

Both players should be available for the Kingfish's 7:05 p.m. contest against the Louisiana IceGators in Lafayette tomorrow.
