The Richmond Renegades are 18-14-1 after going 1-2 last week. The ‘Gades are in fourth place in the Northeast Division, three points behind third place Roanoke and two points ahead of fifth place Reading. Richmond plays four games in six nights this week. Happy New Year!

Tuesday, December 31 @ Johnstown 6:00 PM

GAME NOTES: The second of three meetings with the Chiefs and the ‘Gades only visit to Johnstown this season. Richmond blanked the Chiefs 3-0 on 12/8. Dan Lombard made 33 saves. Richmond was 2-0 at Johnstown last season.

Friday, January 3 @ Charlotte 7:35 PM

GAME NOTES: The fifth of nine meetings and the second of four here. Richmond is 2-2 vs. Charlotte, 0-1 on the road. Lars Pettersen and Kerry Ellis-Toddington have five points vs. Charlotte. Eddie Pershin and Kurt Seher have six points vs. the ‘Gades. The Checkers are 7-28 on the power play vs. Richmond. ‘Gades have out-shot the Checkers by over seven per game.

Saturday, January 4 vs. Greensboro 7:35 PM

GAME NOTES: Fifth of eight meetings and the third of four here. ‘Gades are 2-1-1 vs. the Generals, 1-1 at home. Jon Zion has four points vs. the Generals. Chris Bell has five vs. the ‘Gades. Greensboro is 12-3-1 in their last 16 games.

Sunday, January 5 @ Atlantic City 7:05 PM

GAME NOTES: The fifth of eight meetings and the third of four here. Richmond is 2-2 vs. the Bullies, 0-2 at Atlantic City. Jon Zion had four points vs. the Bullies. Scott Matzka has six vs. the ‘Gades. Bullies lead the Northeast Division with 47 points, tied for most in the ECHL.

Thursday, December 26 vs. Roanoke LOSS 4-2

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades lost for the second straight time at home to Roanoke and suffered back to back home losses for the first time this season. The Express scored three straight goals after falling behind 1-0. Richmond scored twice on the power play and was 5-5 on the penalty kill. Four different Express scored goals. Dan Carlson had two assists.

Friday, December 27 @ Charlotte LOSS 4-2

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades lost their third straight at home. Richmond scored first on a goal by Jamie Herrington but the Checkers scored four straight goals. The ‘Gades out-shot the Checkers 36-27 but went 0-6 on the power play and allowed two power play goals. Dusty Jamieson scored twice for Charlotte.

Saturday, December 28 vs. Wheeling WIN 6-0

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades ended their five game winless streak with their first shutout road win of the year. Marc Magliarditi made 27 saves. The ‘Gades scored two goals in the game's first minute. Six ‘Gades had two points, led by Peter Hogan's two goals.

‘GADES NOTES: The Renegades snapped a season high five game winless streak with a 6-0 win over Wheeling Saturday. The ‘Gades also ended a four game road winless streak. Richmond has lost their last three home games after winning 12 of their first 14. The ‘Gades have three players away on AHL call-ups: Jon Zion (Cincinnati), Brad Chruch (Cleveland), and Jayme Filipowicz (St. John). Five different ‘Gades have earned AHL call-ups this season. Three ‘Gades were picked to play for the Northern Conference in the ECHL All Star Game January 21: Jamie Herrington, Dan Lombard, and Zion. The ‘Gades are on a three game road trip and a stretch of five of six away from home. Richmond is three games into a stretch of 20 games in 38 days. The ‘Gades win at Wheeling was Marc Magliarditi's first shutout of the season and the ‘Gades first road shutout since the opening game of last season (10-12-01 @ Peoria). The ‘Gades have acquired defenseman Tyler Palmer as the player to be named later for Rich Spiller. Richmond has held the opposition to 27 shots on goal in three straight games. Lars Pettersen has points in three straight games. He has one game remaining of a three game ECHL suspension. Jamie Herrington has a three game scoring streak. David Brosseau's three game scoring streak ended Saturday. Ryan Van Buskirk has missed the last five games with a concussion. Richmond has scored the first goal in four straight games. Dan Lombard is ninth in the ECHL with a 2.71 GAA. The ‘Gades are third in the league in penalty killing (85.1%). They are tied for the league lead with eight shorthanded goals. The ‘Gades lead the league in fewest shots on goal against (28.8). Jamie Herrington is seventh in the league in rookie scoring.
