Johnstown Chiefs News Release


The Johnstown Chiefs (12-18-4; 28 PTS; 6th NW div.) continued their slide as they went 0-2-1 last week. The Chiefs have won one game in their last ten (1-7-2). The Chiefs are now in sixth place in the Northwest division trailing 5th pace Dayton by two points. The Chiefs will play three games this week. Tuesday night they will host they Richmond Renegades at 6:00 p.m. Friday night they travel to Atlantic City, and Saturday night at Trenton.

GAME #32 (12/26/02) TRENTON 3 – Johnstown 1 Smital 100th Goal w/ Chiefs

The Trenton Titans scored two 3rd period goals to break a 1-1 tie, and defeat the Chiefs 3-1 Thursday night at Trenton. Lukas Smital scored the Chiefs goal. Peter Aubry made 24 saves for the Chiefs. Tyler Beechey scored two goals and an assist for the Titans. The Chiefs out shot the Titans 34-27 in the contest.

GAME #33 (12/27/02) WHEELING 1 – Johnstown 0 Aubry 29 Saves

The Chiefs and the Wheeling Nailers three scoreless periods and a 5:00 minute overtime before the Nailers defeated the Chiefs 1-0 in a shootout. Peter Aubry made 29 saves in net for the Chiefs for his second shut out of the season.

GAME #34 (12/28/02) TOLEDO 3 – Johnstown 0 Aubry 40 Saves

For the second straight game, the Johnstown Chiefs were shutout. The Toledo Storm handed the Chiefs their seventh loss in their last ten games with a 3-0 decision Saturday night. Peter Aubry made 40 saves in goal for the Chiefs. Two of Toledo's goals cam on the power play.

The Chiefs face the Trenton Titans (15-12-5; 35 PTS 6th NE div.)for the second of five games this season. The Chiefs fell to the Titans 3-1 on 12/26. The Chiefs are 3-12-2 all-time against Trenton. The Titans are currently in sixth place in the Northeast division. The Titans are 5-2-3 in their last ten games, and have the worst road record in the ECHL (3-9-1).

The Johnstown Chiefs and the Richmond Renegades (18-14-1; 37 PTS 4th NE div.) will face-off for the second time this season on New Year's Eve at the War Memorial. The Chiefs fell to Richmond 3-0 on 12/8. This is the Renegades only appearance at the War Memorial this season. The Chiefs are 30-29-5 all-time against Richmond.

The Chiefs will face the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies (19-7-9; 47 PTS 1st NE div.) for the first of four games this season Friday night at Boardwalk Hall. The Chiefs were 2-3-0 against the Bullies last season. The Bullies are tied with Mississippi and Louisiana for the best record in the ECHL. A.C. is 4-1-5 in their last ten games.

CHIEFS NOTES:

- The Chiefs played their 1000th game as a franchise 12/26 @ Trenton
- Lukas Smital recorded his 100th career goal in a Chiefs uniform (254 games) last Thursday night at Trenton.
- The Chiefs have not scored a goal in 161:08.
- The Chiefs are 0-4-2 against Northeast division teams this season.
