Bruins Shutout Sound Tigers

Bridgeport, CT -- The Providence Bruins defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 3-0 this evening at the Webster Bank Arena. Alex Fallstrom, Jared Knight and Kyle MacKinnon scored for the Bruins. Michael Hutchinson made 36 saves as the Bruins improved to 49-21-0-5.
Fallstrom's first-period power-play goal lifted the Bruins to their eighth straight win at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport Saturday evening.
Providence clinched first place in the Eastern Conference last night with a 5-3 win over Springfield. With 101 points and a little help from the Houston Aeros, the Bruins became the AHL 2012-13 Regular Season Champions for the first time since 2007-08.
Fallstrom found the open net off a pass from Matt Lindblad and Anders Nilsson had no chance as his Swedish counterpart on the Bruins scored the game winner at 15:25. MacKinnon also assisted on the play.
Knight added an insurance goal at 1:15 of the third period. The goal marked his first of the season after missing the majority of games due to a lower body injury. Lindblad added his second assist of the game and Carter Camper recorded the secondary assist.
MacKinnon added an empty net goal in the final ten seconds to give the Bruins a 3-0 win.
Hutchinson made 36 saves as he recorded his third shutout of the season.
The Bruins wrap up the regular season tomorrow at The Dunk versus the Norfolk Admirals. The puck drops at 3:05 p.m. for Team Poster Day.
