Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators took on the Hershey Bears tonight at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena in their final regular season home game. After striking first early in the opening period, the B-Sens never fell behind, going on to win the match-up 4-2.

The B-Sens stuck first on a power play goal scored by Shane Price at the 9:11 mark in the first period. Casey Wellman tied the game at one on a power play goal of his own at 16:40. Brett Lebda sent Binghamton into the first intermission with a 2-1 lead, beating the keeper with just 1:11 left in the period.

At the 6:40 mark in the second, the B-Sens capitalized once more on the power play, this time with a five-on-three advantage as Stephane Da Costa blasted the puck past Philipp Grubauer to extend the Binghamton lead to 3-1. Defenseman Cody Ceci assisted on Da Costa's goal, earning his first professional point.

Hershey cut the B-Sens lead to 3-2 following a Garrett Mitchell goal at 18:34. However, Binghamton would put the game away shortly after, as Mark Stone put home an empty netter for his fifteenth goal of the season.

Marc Cheverie got the nod in net for Binghamton, saving 24 of the 26 shots that he faced. Philipp Grubauer started between the pipes for Hershey stopping 20 of the 24 shots he saw.

The B-Sens conclude the regular season tomorrow as they travel to Syracuse to face the Crunch. Game time is 3 p.m. Fans can listen live on "Binghamton's Classic Hits" BIG 107.5 (WBBI-FM) beginning 15 minutes before game time as Grady Whittenburg, the voice of the B-Sens, hosts the Countdown to Faceoff.
