Kamloops Blazers News Release

Calgary, AB - The 2014 WHL Bantam Draft has concluded, and the Blazers have added ten 1999-born players to the hockey club's protected player list.

The Kamloops Blazers selected defenseman Nolan Kneen with their third overall pick, the highest in franchise history. Kneen is a North Vancouver product and was the first defenseman taken in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft behind forwards Stelio Mattheos, who went 1st overall to Brandon, and Jordy Bellerive, who was selected 2nd overall by Lethbridge.

The Blazers went to Kneen's defensive partner with their second round pick and selected defenseman Connor McDonald from North Vancouver.

The hockey club also completed a pair of trades on the day first re-acquiring 20-year-old defenseman Brady Gaudet from the Red Deer Rebels in exchange for a third round 2014 WHL Bantam Draft pick.

The Blazers then dealt 20-year-old forward Matt Bellerive to the Vancouver Giants in exchange for a fourth round 2015 WHL Bantam Draft pick and a sixth round 2014 WHL Bantam Draft pick. The Blazers used the sixth round pick to select forward Kyle Bosch from Kindersley, SK.

Among the 10 selections, four players are from B.C., four players are from Alberta, one is from Saskatchewan and one is from Minnesota.
