VANCOUVER, BC - The Vancouver Giants have selected forwards Dawson Holt (8th overall) and Brendan Semchuk (10th overall) in the 2014 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

Holt, a 5'10", 165lbs Saskatoon native, had 73 points (35 goals, 38 assists) in 26 games with the Saskatoon Generals Bantam AA.

"It's an unreal experience [to get drafted by Vancouver] and I'm super excited to be a part of the Vancouver Giants organization," said Holt. "I've heard so many great things about the team and I'm so proud and excited to get a chance to play for Vancouver."

Semchuk, a 5'11", 165lbs Kamloops native, had 77 points (45 goals, 32 assists) in 51 games with the Kamloops Blazers Bantam A1-T1.

"It's an honour getting drafted by the Giants," said Semchuk. "I didn't know where I was going to get drafted to, but it's been a dream of mine to play for Vancouver. It's nice and close to home, and I'm looking forward to joining the team."

"Both our first-round picks have great speed," said Giants' General Manager and Executive Vice President Scott Bonner. "We felt Holt was one of the most talented offensive players in the draft and we think that Semchuk is a big strong winger with great speed and a heavy shot. After playing Portland in the first round, we saw how tough it was to defend speed and skill and adding these two forwards to Tyler Benson, Matt Barberis, and Ryely McKinstry should build a deep team for the future"
