Broncos Select 9 at 2014 WHL Bantam Draft

Swift Current, SK - The Swift Current Broncos Hockey Club selected nine players (four defencemen, four forwards and one goaltender) in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft.

"We had some goals in our mind as we prepared for (Bantam) Draft Day," stated Assistant General Manager - Director of Player Personnel, Jamie Porter. "Due to the lack of picks in the second, third and fourth rounds, we tried to focus a lot of our energy on players that would be available later in the draft. We are quite happy with how the day went and we see a lot of potential in all of our selections."

1st Round - 12th Overall

Dominic Schmiemann

Position: Defence

Height: 6'3" Weight: 170lbs

Birthdate: April 22nd 1999

Hometown: James River Bridge, AB

2013-14 Team: Notre Dame Bantam Hounds

"We like his grit and his size. We believe he will fit well into our core group of guys that we are building on the back-end," states Assistant General Manager - Director of Player Personnel, Jamie Porter. "He is a character guy. We like how his season went and are looking forward to seeing him continue to play."

Tyler Oakenfold

Position: Right Wing

Height: 5'11" Weight: 163lbs
