SASKATOON, SK - The Saskatoon Blades have continued to add pieces to their rebuild by adding draft picks following a trade with the Vancouver Giants at the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft.

The deal has the Blades acquiring a 3rd round pick in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft and a 5th round pick in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft from the Giants in exchange for defenceman and former 7th round pick Clayton Kirichenko.

"We feel that both of these trades help address our main goal, which is continuing to add draft picks for our rebuild," said Blades managing partner Colin Priestner. "We have a number of young players that will be looking to make our team next year on defence and this trade helps give us some flexibility there. We want to thank Clayton for his time with this franchise and wish him all the best with the Giants."

Kirichenko was the 154th overall pick in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft by Saskatoon. He registered 3 goals and 12 points in 70 games this past season, picking up 53 PIMs to go along with a -35 rating.
