
Chiefs Select Anderson-Dolan 14th Overall

SPOKANE, Wash. - With the 14th Overall selection in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft, the Spokane Chiefs selected Jaret Anderson-Dolan, a forward from the Calgary Edge Mountaineers. The 5'10", 167 lb. center scored 79 goals and 126 points and 64 PIM in 59 games with the Mountaineers last season. He also scored 3 goals and 6 points in 5 games during the 2014 Alberta Cup, playing for Team South.
Spokane made 12 selections in all, picking up seven forwards, four defenseman and one goaltender. Eight draftees hail from Canadian provinces while three are American.
SPOKANE CHIEFS 2014 WHL BANTAM DRAFT SELECTIONS
1st Round (14th Overall): Jaret Anderson-Dolan - Forward - Calgary, AB
"Jaret has a great combination of skill, tenacity, compete and smarts," Chiefs Director of Player Personnel Chris Moulton said. "He does a lot of things very well, takes pride in playing good defense, wins draws and is creative offensively. He has quick hands, is willing to go in front of the net and score in a variety of ways from everywhere on the ice.
"We always take the best player available and were thrilled to have the opportunity to select Jaret at 14th."
2nd Round (36th Overall): Hayden Ostir - Forward - Winnipeg, MB
Hayden Ostir is a 5'9", 164 lb. forward from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He played his 2013-14 season with the Pursuit of Excellence Bantam AAA-1 program in Kelowna, B.C, scoring 35 goals and 40 assists in 47 games.
"Hayden does everything at high speed with energy and tenacity. He attacks with speed, has good hands and handles the puck well. He creates a lot of scoring chances, is aggressive on the puck and takes it to the net. He reads plays well and can play in all situations."
3rd Round (48th Overall): Matthew Holzer - Defenseman - Edmonton, AB
Matthew Holzer is a 6'2", 172 lb. defenseman from Edmonton, Alberta. He played his 2013-14 season with the SSAC Southgate Lions of the AMBHL, scoring 1 goal and 19 assists in 33 games to go along with 24 PIM.
"Holzer is a consistent performer and is phyiscally strong. He's good one-on-one, competes and does not panic under pressure. He has his head on a swivel in his zone, reads the play well and doesn't try to do too much."
3rd Round (58th Overall): Ethan McIndoe - Forward - Camrose, AB
Ethan McIndoe is a 6'0", 149 lb. forward from Camrose, Alberta. He played his 2013-14 season with Camrose Vikings of the AMBHL, scoring 24 goals and 25 assists in 33 games.
"Ethan has good size and skill with the ability to create offensive opportunities. He pursues the puck very hard and finishes his checks. He has a very good combination of skill, quickness and grit, which along with his size, makes him hard to play against."
4th Round (71st Overall): Jake Harrison - Defenseman - West Kelowna, BC
Jake Harrison is a 5'8", 160 lb. defenseman from West Kelowna, B.C. He played his 2013-14 season with the Pursuit of Excellence Bantam AAA-1 program with Chiefs' 2nd-Round selection Ostir. Harrison scored 12 goals and 31 assists in 52 games with POE, adding 58 PIM.
"Jake does everything with intensity. He has the ability to play with skill but also has a mean streak and brings physical play. He is a leader by example and consistently the hardest worker on the ice. He closes his man out well and finishes his checks. He's aggressive on the puck and makes a good first pass out of the zone."
4th Round (80th Overall): Matthew Armitage - Goaltender - Calgary, AB
Matt Armitage is a 5'8", 179 lb. goaltender from Calgary, Alberta. He was a teammate of the Chiefs' 1st-Round selection (Anderson-Dolan) on the Edge Mountaineers, playing 2,108 minutes while posting a 2.73 GAA and 0.917 SV% with 5 shutouts. He also earned All-Star honors at the Alberta Cup.
"Matthew is a highly competitive kid and battles for every save. He will do everything it takes to be a goalie in our league."
6th Round (124th Overall): Joseph Cassetti - Forward - Wenatchee, WA
Joseph Cassetti is a 6'2" 165 lb. forward from Wenatchee, WA. He played the 2013-14 season with the San Jose Junior Sharks AAA in California.
"Cassetti plays a power forward type game with good skill and a quick release. He has a hard, quick shot and protects the puck well. He's willing to go into the corners and in front of the net, handling the puck well in traffic."
7th Round (146th Overall): Logan Foster - Forward - Kamsack, SK
Logan Foster is a 5'8" 145 lb. forward from Kamsack, Saskatchewan. He played the 2013-14 season with the Notre Dame Bantam Hounds of the SSMHL, scoring 16 goals and 19 assists, adding 38 PIM.
"Logan is a good skater with a good skill set. He handles the puck well and attacks with speed."
8th Round (168th Overall): Jacob McGrew - Forward - Orange, CA
Jacob McGrew is a 5'8" 187 lb. forward from Orange, CA. He played the 2013-14 season with the Los Angeles Junior Kings AAA.
"Jacob is a strong forward who plays with power and skill. He shoots the puck very well, sees the ice and makes plays."
9th Round (177th Overall): Tyler Jubenvill - Defenseman - Gilbert Plains, MB
The Chiefs acquired the 177th Overall selection from Lethbridge in exchange for Spokane's 9th Round pick in the 2015 draft. With the pick, Spokane chose Tyler Jubenvill, a 5'5", 144 lb. defenseman from Gilbert Plains, MB. Jubenvill played the 2013-14 season with the Parkland Rangers (WMHA AAA Bantam 1), scoring 8 goals and 30 assists in 32 games while earning 48 PIM.
"Tyler is smart, composed, tough, and competes like crazy. He plays in every situation from running the power play to blocking shots. He plays the game the way it should be played and makes others around him better."
9th Round (190th Overall): James Stagg - Forward - Chandler, AZ
James Stagg is a 6'3", 188 lb. forward from Chandler, Arizona. He played the 2013-14 season with the Arizona Bobcats Bantam 14U team.
"James is a big, strong guy who improves every game I see him. He plays with a lot of compete and battle. He's an athlete."
10th Round (212th Overall): Austin Shumanski - Defenseman - Hafford, SK
Austin Shumanski is a 6'4", 185 lb. defenseman from Hafford, Saskatchewan. He played the 2013-14 season with the Sask Valley Vipers of the SBAAHL, scoring 3 goals and 6 assists, adding 44 PIM in 31 games.
"Austin is a tall guy with a huge frame and was one of the most improved guys we have seen this year. He plays the game hard, has a good first pass and took huge steps in improvement."
