Cleveland Barons News Release

11/11/05 Cleveland 1, Hamilton 5 -

Michael Lambert and Corey Locke scored two goals apiece for the Hamilton Bulldogs as they defeated the Barons, 5-1, at Copps Coliseum. The Barons weathered the early storm from the Bulldogs, who out-shot them in the scoreless opening period 9-4. Hamilton scored the game's opening goal with a second period tally while on the man advantage. The Bulldogs extended their lead to 2-0 with an even-strength goal in the last three minutes of the second period. The Bulldogs scored a short-handed goal from Michael Lambert at the 8:16 mark of the third period to end hopes of a third-period comeback. The Barons answered with a power play goal from Tim Conboy, but it was too little-too late as the Barons lost by a final of 5-1.

11/12/05 Manitoba 3, Cleveland 2 -

Grant Stevenson scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Barons to an impressive 3-2 win against the Moose. Although skating to a scoreless tie, the Barons dominated the first period, out-shooting the Moose 14-6. The Barons drew first blood when Stevenson scored his fifth goal of the year just 55 seconds into the second period. The Moose came back with back-to-back power play goals to take a 2-1 lead after forty minutes. The Barons battled back with two unanswered goals in the third to earn the 3-2 victory. Stevenson's second goal of the night came just 74-seconds into the third on a power play. Mike Iggulden and Ray DiLauro assisted on the goal. Josh Prudden finished the scoring with his first goal of the season on assists from Stevenson and Garrett Stafford.

11/13/05 Rochester 3, Cleveland 6 -

Six different players scored goals for the Barons, who skated past the Rochester Americans for their fifth consecutive home win, a franchise record. Jamie Holden turned aside 25 shots, including a penalty shot late in the third period, to preserve his fifth consecutive win, a franchise record for a Barons goaltender. Rochester opened up scoring as Stefan Meyer scored his third goal of the season just 2:18 into the game. The Barons tied the game at 1-1 with only :47 seconds remaining in the first. Tomas Plihal converted his first of the year after stealing a puck at the Rochester blue line and sliding it between the legs of Amerks goaltender Jean-Marc Pelletier. Josh Hennessy gave the Barons their first lead of the night five minutes into the second period. The third period saw four Barons goals scored by four different players. Josh Prudden, Patrick Rissmiller and Shane Joseph all found the net for the Barons to bring them to a commanding 5-1 lead. Rochester made a game of it with back-to-back goals from Dan Focht and Michael Ryan. But the momentum the Amerks had gained was stolen away with a penalty shot save from Holden. Craig Valette secured the win with his second goal of the year with less than three minutes remaining.

This Goal is for the Kids

The Barons have partnered with the Cleveland Clinic in unique program called "This Goal is for the Kids". The program allows individuals and business to "score goals" for the Children's Hospital by helping to raise money. Participants can purchase a membership level (assist, goal, hat trick) which earns them tickets, on-ice recognition, a group outing, and recognition at all home games. There are additional perks as you go higher in the levels which include a suite event with the President of the Barons and hockey legend Jock Callander, and a meet-and-greet with the players. Most importantly, a portion of each plan purchased is donated to The Children's Hospital.

Barons Partner with 92.3-X

The Barons have entered into a unique partnership with 92.3-FM. Each weekday during 14 weeks throughout the 2005-06 season, 92.3-FM will air 60 second promotional vignettes known as "Barons Beats".
