Albany faces three road games as part of four games in five nights stretch

The Week Ahead:

The Albany River Rats visit Paul E. Tsongas Arena for a 7:05pm meeting with the Lowell Lock Monsters on Wednesday night. (6:50pm WABY 1160AM & WVKZ 1240AM; B2 Networks @ www.albanyriverrats.com

The Lock Monsters (7-6-0-2, 4TH Atlantic) dropped a 5-1 decision to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on the road Sunday evening. RW Chad Larose tops the club with eight goals and ranks second with 13 points, while C Colin Forbes leads the way with 10 assists in 15 games this season. Lowell is the AHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes, while also housing prospects for the Colorado Avalanche. The River Rats hold an 8-8-2-0 record in the all-time regular season series against Lowell, including a 3-5-1 record on the road. Albany won the first two games of the season series by a combined 12-7 score and the teams meet another five times during the 2005-06 campaign. The River Rats then visit the Springfield Falcons in the first of four visits to the MassMutual Center on Friday at 7:35pm. (7:20pm WABY 1160AM & WVKZ 1240AM; B2 Networks @ www.albanyriverrats.com ). The Falcons (6-5-1-2, 5TH Atlantic) are winless in the last five (0-3-0-2) games after a 2-1 home loss to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Saturday. Rookie F Ryan Vesce leads the AHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning with nine assists in 14 games after earning a contract in training camp. Veteran F Jim Campbell is third on the team with six goals and ranks fourth with 11 points in his second season in Springfield. The River Rats hold a 26-23-1-3 record in the regular season series against Springfield, including an 11-13-3-3 mark away from home. Albany dropped a 4-3 home decision to Springfield back on November 2ND and the teams will play another six times. Albany returns to Pepsi Arena for their first meeting with the Binghamton Senators in a 5:00pm face-off on Saturday evening. The Senators (2-7-1-1, 7TH East) are coming off a 5-2 loss to the Philadelphia Phantoms Sunday night on the road. LW Denis Hamel once again powers the offense with a team-high 17 (8-9) points in 13 games for the Baby Sens. F Brandon Bochenski has 11 (4-7) points since his return from Ottawa and former River Rat Brett Clouthier ranks third on the AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators with 29 penalty minutes. The River Rats hold a 7-16-3-2 record in the all-time series against Binghamton, including a 4-8-1-1 mark at home. Albany went 4-6-0-0 against Binghamton last season and the former division rivals square off another five times during the 2005-06 regular season. The River Rats close out the four-games-in-four-days stretch with their first face-off with the Providence Bruins on the road Sunday at 4:05pm. Former R.P.I. Engineer LW Eric Healey tops the team with 13 (6-7) points, including three power play goals in 10 games during the 2005-06 campaign. LW Zdenek Blatny leads the AHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins with eight assists in 10 games this year. The River Rats hold a 23-16-6-3 record in the all-time regular season series against Providence, including an 11-10-3-0 mark at the Dunkin Donuts Center. Albany posted a 2-1-0-1 record against the Bruins last season with the division rivals meeting up another seven times this year.

Aleksander Suglobov - The Russian winger leads the team in offense this season and has a career-high three assists last week. He looks more committed on defense and with the constant re-calls to New Jersey, it appears to be only a matter of time. Pascal Rheaume - The former captain skated in his 400TH AHL game on Saturday night after passing Jiri Bicek for second place on the all-time scoring list. He's etched his place in team history with those numbers and the 1995 Calder Cup win. Rat Bites:

RW Aleksander Suglobov dished out a career-high three assists on Friday and leads Albany with 10 (4-6) points in 11 games during the 2005-06 campaign. RW Barry Tallackson was re-called to New Jersey on Saturday and went scoreless with a minus one rating in his NHL debut against Washington that afternoon. C Pascal Rheaume passed LW Jiri Bicek for second on the River Rats scoring list with 243 points and skated in his 400TH AHL game against Syracuse on Saturday. The River Rats matched a franchise record by allowing just one shot on goal against in the third period of Saturday's match-up with Syracuse. D David Hale lead the River Rats with a plus six rating and stands third among team defenders with three (2-1) points this season.
