(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans' rivalry with the Syracuse Crunch heats up as the two teams meet in a home-and-home series this weekend. The games are part of another three-games in three-nights stretch for the Amerks, which begins with two games against the Crunch and ends on Sunday in Hershey against the Bears.

The Amerks (9-5-0-0, 18 points) are in third place in the North Division after winning two of three games last week. Rochester earned wins over Manitoba and Chicago, but lost 6-3 at Cleveland on Sunday.

On Friday, November 18th, the Syracuse Crunch make their first of six visits to The Blue Cross Arena. The 7:35 p.m. contest will be televised tape delayed on Time Warner Cable Channel 98 on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The game will be webcast on the B2 Networks. The contest is also available to on-line viewers on the B2 Networks for a $6.00 fee. Radio coverage is to be announced.

The first 5,000 fans will receive a trading card of Amerk Hall of Fame center Bronco Horvath (1956-57; 1962-69). Horvath was a member of the Amerks inaugural team in 1956-57, leading the squad in goals, assists, and points. After four successful seasons in the NHL, Horvath returned to Rochester to play the last eight of his career. His 542 career points rank him third all-time and his 343 assists place him second all-time. Among his accomplishments are three Calder Cup Rings. While in Rochester, he was also a three-time AHL All-Star.

On Saturday, the Amerks travel to Syracuse to battle the Crunch at 7:30 p.m. at the War Memorial at Oncenter. The game will be broadcast on WHTK 1280-AM and webcast on the B2 Networks. The contest is also available to on-line viewers on the B2 Networks for a $6.00 fee.

Syracuse (6-7-0-0, 12 points) is currently in seventh place in the North Division, despite winning its last two games. The Crunch lead the season series against Rochester with a record of 1-0-0-0. Syracuse defeated the Amerks 6-3 on October 22nd in the first of 12 meetings this season.

The weekend ends with a 5:00 p.m. game at GIANT Center against the Hershey Bears. The contest is the second and final game between the two oldest rivals in the American Hockey League. Hershey won the first meeting, 5-3, on October 14th. The contest this Sunday is the 430th time the two teams have played during the regular season. The game will be broadcast on WHTK 1280-AM and webcast on the B2 Networks. The contest is also available to on-line viewers on the B2 Networks for a $6.00 fee.

NEWS AND NOTES:

Jason Pominville leads the AHL with 15 goals and nine power-play goals in 13 games. He is also tied for fifth in the league with 20 points (15+5).

Last week, he scored five goals and added one assist as Rochester won two of three games.

On Friday, he helped set up Chris Thorburn's game-winning goal and the following night he netted the game-winner in a 4-2 win over Chicago.

Rochester continues to lead the league in power-play percentage, converting on 31 percent of its chances (30 of 98).

Center Drew Larman made his AHL and Amerks debut on Sunday and recorded his first professional point/assist.

Defenseman Jeremy Swanson made his Amerks debut on Friday night.

Today, the Amerks and the Monroe County Public Libraries will announce a reading program, which teaches kids about the importance of reading and achieving goals.

Center Greg Jacina received his first recall to the NHL after Friday night's game. He made his NHL debut the next night with the Florida Panthers.

Defenseman Doug Janik has returned to the Rochester Americans.
