BINGHAMTON - The Binghamton Devils couldn't convert on late chances as the Rochester Americans came away with a 3-2 victory in front of 4,639 at Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday night.

Michael McLeod gave the Devils the 1-0 lead with six seconds remaining in the first period. Brandon Gignac sent a hard pass from the right circle over to McLeod who tipped the puck past Andrew Hammond. McLeod's sixth of the season came with helpers from Gignac and Matt Tennyson and the Devils took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

While Marian Studenic was serving the Binghamton penalty for too many men on the ice, the Americans tied the game at one just 5:05 into the second frame. Casey Mittelstadt's shot bounced off the post and back out to Brett Murray who sunk the rebound for Rochester. Assists on the power-play goal were credited to Mittelstadt and Jacob Bryson.

The Devils were quick to answer as Studenic tallied his third goal of the season. Studenic dragged the puck into the Rochester zone from center ice and popped it past the right side of Hammond for Binghamton's second lead of the night, 2-1. The unassisted goal came at 6:40 into the middle frame.

Murray scored his second of the period from below to the goal line to tie the game, 2-2. Murray banked the puck from behind the net off of Colton White, off Schneider, and into the net for his seventh of the year at 8:37 of the second period. Assists were given to Nathan Paetsch and Sean Malone and the game was tied heading into the third.

The Amerks grabbed their first lead of the game with Sean Malone's ninth goal of the season just 5:56 into the third period. Eric Cornel connected with Malone out in front of the net and Malone ripped one at Schneider that slid just under the crossbar and put the Americans up 3-2. Cornel and Zach Redmond tallied the assists on the play.

The Devils could not capitalize on their opportunities late in the game and Rochester took the 3-2 win. Schneider stopped 24 of 27 in the loss and Hammond stopped 30 of 32 in the win.
