Americans Hit the Final Destination on Two-Week Road Trip
March 17, 2018 - ECHL (ECHL) - Allen Americans News Release
Loveland, Colorado - The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, face the defending Kelly Cup Champion Colorado Eagles tonight at 8:05 pm CST at Budweiser Events Center.
The Americans have won six straight entering tonight's contest. The road trip started in Idaho with a 2-1 shootout win, followed by back to back victories in Utah and a 5-4 win over Rapid City on Wednesday night.
Allen lost forward Vincent Arseneau, arguably the hottest player on the Allen roster, to Utica of the American Hockey League on Thursday. Arseneau had 3 goals and 2 assists through four games on the trip. He's second on the team in goals scored with 18. The team is also playing without forward Tristan King, who's on the trip with the club but is out with an upper-body injury.
"It was tough losing Vinny (Arseneau), but we have enough talent on this roster to get the job done," said Captain Joel Chouinard. "We've been playing solid hockey for the last two weeks to make up some ground in the division."
The Americans enter tonight's game in fourth place in the Mountain Division. Allen trails third place Wichita by four points with two games in-hand. The Americans hold a one-point lead over fifth place Tulsa with two games in-hand.
Following this weekends games in Colorado, the Americans will be home for six straight, and eight of their last nine.
