Admirals Get by Knights

Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI-Like most employees, the Milwaukee Admirals don't want to disappoint when the boss is watching. So the team made sure that minority owner and Milwaukee Brewers Pitcher Ben Sheets wasn't disappointed on Tuesday night as the team came away with an exciting 4-3 victory over the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights.
Just when it looked like the Admirals were headed for the fourth straight overtime session, newcomer Corey Hessler fired a slap shot passed Omaha goaltender Brent Krahn with just 20 seconds to go in the game to break a 3-3 tie and give the Ads their eighth straight home win.
The play was made possible by a bench minor on the Knights for too many men on the ice with 2:05 to play in the game. As the penalty was about to wear out, Libor Pivko faked a shot and passed to Hessler who drilled the slapper into the back of the net.
This was the second time in two games that a too many men penalty put Milwaukee on a power play that they would convert for the game-winner. On Sunday the Toronto Marlies were whistled for that same infraction and the Admirals turned the ensuing power-play into an overtime victory.
Kris Beech had given the Ads a 3-2 lead at the beginning of the third period when he scored on assists from Pivko and Jordin Tootoo, but Omaha battled back an tied the game at three with a goal by Derek Couture at the 12:49 mark of the third.
Beech finished the night with a goal and an assist while Pivko added two assists to lead the Admirals offense. Pekka Rinne logged another win to push his record to 19-10-1 on the year and an impressive 15-2 at the Bradley Center.
The Admirals are back in action on Saturday night when they travel to the All-State Arena to do battle with the Chicago Wolves at 7:00 pm. The team's next game at the BC will be next Tuesday, January 24 at 7:00. For tickets, fans can call (414) 276-4545 or log on to www.ticketmaster.com.
