Rivermen add to blueline corps

Peoria, IL (January 20, 2006) - General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald of the Peoria Rivermen, the proud primary affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, announced today that the Rivermen have signed defenseman T. J. Kemp (KIHMP) to a 25-game professional try-out (PTO) contract.

Kemp, 24, joins the Rivermen from the Reading Royals of the ECHL. In 35 games as a Royal so far this season, the 5-11, 197-pound defenseman has accumulated 28 points (8 goals, 20 assists) and 38 penalty minutes. He has been selected to play in the 2005-06 ECHL All-Star Game as a member of the American Conference Team. The native of Pickering, Ontario, recorded 100 points (32 goals, 68 assists) and 177 minutes in penalties in 133 career NCAA appearances for Mercyhurst College from 2001-05.

The Rivermen are a proud new member of the AHL. Founded in 1936, the AHL now serves as the primary development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams and is celebrating its 70th anniversary season in 2005-06.
