Penguins down Senators behind four power-play goals

BINGHAMTON, NY - The league-leading Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins scored four power-play goals on their way to a 6-2 victory against the Binghamton Senators on Friday night before a crowd of 4,456 at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

Binghamton was charged with a season-high 111 penalty minutes in the game compared to just 35 for the Penguins. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton capitalized on their 15 power-play chances and also scored on a penalty shot, the third successful penalty shot against the Senators this season. The Senators converted on one of six power-play chances.

The Penguins got on the board first when center Stephen Dixon scored his seventh goal of the season. By the time winger Daniel Carcillo scored the Penguins' fourth power-play goal of the game, Binghamton trailed 6-0 with less than two minutes remaining in the second period.

Binghamton forwards Danny Bois and Denis Hamel each scored in the final period. Center Steve Martins assisted on each of the goals.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton held a 44 to 33 shot advantage in the game as the Senators allowed a franchise record 25 shots in the second period.

The Sens return to action tomorrow night as the Norfolk Admirals visit the Arena at 7:05 p.m. Norfolk lost to Springfield on Friday night and currently sits only four points ahead of the Senators for fourth place in the East Division.
