PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned forward Lasse Pirjeta to the Kloten Flyers of the Swiss League, it was announced today by General Manager Craig Patrick.

Pirjeta, 31, appeared in eight games with the Penguins' American Hockey League affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, after being assigned from Pittsburgh on December 15th. In eight games with Wilkes-Barrre/Scranton, Pirjeta recorded five points (1+4) and six penalty minutes.

In 25 games this season with Pittsburgh, Pirjeta recorded seven points (4+3) and 18 penalty minutes.

The 6-4 and 225-pound native of Oulu, Finland was acquired by the Penguins from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Brian Holzinger on March 9, 2004.
