Adirondack Phantoms News Release
January 19, 2006 - Just a few weeks after breaking a 41-year-old record for scoring by an AHL defenseman, John Slaney, the Philadelphia Phantoms' Captain, joined the Power Play Post Show this week. Slaney talked about many things this week on the show, including winning a Calder Cup Championship last season; the recent addition to the Phantoms of veteran winger, Jim Campbell; the decision to play in Philadelphia and the AHL versus playing for any other organization with better chances of getting into the National Hockey League; the current struggles of the Phantoms, and so much more. Slaney also comments on one of Host Bob's favorite games, the brawl in Philly between the Phantoms and the Binghamton Senators and featuring "leaping" Neil Little.
Gerry Cantlon of the Connecticut Radio Network and European Hockey.net joined the show to discuss the AHL and the New England market of teams. Gerry offered his thoughts on the economic problems of the New England based teams; enforcement of the rules; how the red line being eliminated has changed the game in both the NHL and the AHL; Worcester coming back into the league next season and a whole lot more.
Hosts Bob and Jason opened the show with a lot of news, information and stats. The two discussed the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins and the recent play of the team, including a three game losing streak followed by two straight wins over the Syracuse Crunch. A look at Alexander Mogilny who was recently sent down by the New Jersey Devils to the Albany River Rats and if more of this activity could follow; thoughts on the All-Star Game selections and any possible snubs; a Binghamton Senators update; a look around the league stats and standings.
Grady Whittenburg in "Gradio's Corner" discussed the more recent winning ways of the Binghamton Senators. A comprehensive look into the Senators games vs. Springfield and Bridgeport, plus a look ahead to this weekend's games vs. the East division leading Wilkes-Barre and East division foe, Norfolk.
Dave Wolf joins the show this week in the "Wild, Wild West Report" with insight on the AHL's West Conference. A look at Donald MacLean's second straight game with a hat trick; his thoughts on the All-Star Game selections and snubs; a look around the West Conference standings; and all the important big games from last week and this coming weekend.
You don't want to miss Bob, Jason, Grady and Dave as they give their picks in the tight race for the Power Play Post Show Pick-em Challenge.
All this and much more can be found in this week's jam-packed edition of the Power Play Post Show.
The Power Play Post Show is an Internet based hockey talk show about the American Hockey League with Hosts Bob and Jason broadcasting from the home of the AHL's Binghamton Senators.
