Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that the team has assigned forward Tomas Plekanec to the Hamilton Bulldogs for conditioning purposes. He should be in uniform on Saturday night as the Bulldogs complete a back-to-back series against the Manitoba Moose, in Winnipeg.
Plekanec, 23, has played in 31 games this season for the Canadiens, recording 12 points (four goals, eight assists) and 10 penalty minutes.
The native of Kladno, Czech Republic, needs only one goal to become the Bulldogs all-time leading goal scorer and four points to become the Bulldogs all-time leading point producer. In 231 games with the Bulldogs, Plekanec has earned 176 points (71 goals, 105 assists) and 232 penalty minutes.
The 5'11", 198-pound center led Hamilton in scoring in both the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons. In 2003-04, he posted 66 points (23 goals, 43 assists) and 90 penalty minutes in 74 games. In 2004-05, he collected 64 points (29 goals, 35 assists) and 68 penalty minutes in 80 games.
The Bulldogs next action will take place tonight, Friday, January 20, when they face the Manitoba Moose in the first of back-to-back games at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg. Game time is 8:30 p.m. This game can be seen live on Rogers Sportsnet.
Hamilton's next home game will take place on Sunday, January 22, when the Toronto Maple Leafs AHL Affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, visit Copps Coliseum. Game time is 5:00 p.m. Tickets are available at Copps Coliseum Box Office (in-person sales only), any Ticketmaster outlet, online at ticketmaster.ca, and at select Sports Obsession locations.
