DES MOINES, IA - Iowa Stars Director of Hockey Operations Scott White announced today that the Dallas Stars have loaned goaltender Mike Smith, to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Iowa Stars.

Drafted by the Dallas Stars in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Smith has a 2.44 Goals Against Average, a .918 Save Percentage and a 9-11-1 record with Iowa. Two of his wins have come via the shutout, including the first shutout in team history on November 19th against Hamilton.

Smith owns the distinction of being the sixth goaltender in ECHL history to score a goal. On October 26th, 2002, he registered a 21-save shutout and scored a goal against Dayton.
