7-0 Road Streak Ends for Utah
November 20, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release
Rapid City, South Dakota - The Rapid City Rush handed the Utah Grizzlies (9-5-1-0) their first road loss of the season Friday night at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. 5-1 was the final.
The loss came 48 hours after the Grizzlies became the first team in ECHL history to start the season 7-0 on the road. It all snapped the team's all-time high nine-game road winning streak and was their first regulation road loss since April 8, 2015.
"It was just one of those nights where things weren't going our way," said Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham. "We had a good streak on the road and now we have a chance to bounce back tomorrow."
Utah tied the game at one on a power-play goal by Connor Hardowa 12:22 into the first period as Jon Puskar and Shayne Taker drew assists. Rapid City made it 2-1 63 seconds later and never looked back.
After two Utah power-plays, as they tried to tie the game at two, the Rush scored two in the final 4:17 of the second period and tallied one in the third period and that would be the final.
Grizzlies goaltender Taran Kozyn stopped 22 of 27 shots in his professional debut as Rapid City added four goals on odd-man rushes and one on the power-play.
Utah drew six of eight power-plays in the contest.
