Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

CINCINNATI, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones (8-3-1-1) fell to the Indy Fuel, 2-1, on Friday night. Forward Joe Wilson netted the lone goal for the Cyclones, who lose their first game at home in regulation.

It was a physical affair early for the Cyclones, as defensemen Dax Lauwers and Jonathan Diaby each engaged in a fight in the first period. The Cyclones continued to lay the body in the first, and midway through the frame they found the back of the net, when forward Peter Quenneville sent a pass from the right wing corner out to Wilson in the low slot, and he popped it over the shoulder of Fuel goaltender Shane Owen, putting the Cyclones up, 1-0, 12:14 into the first.

That 1-0 score held up throughout the remainder of the first, and in the second, Fuel defenseman Sam Jardine launched a shot from the point that beat Cyclones goaltender Brad Thiessen, tying the game, 1-1, after 40 minutes.

The Fuel took a 2-1 lead when defenseman Ben Marshall beat Thiessen four minutes into the third, and that was all it took, as Indy held on for the 2-1 win.

Thiessen stopped 26 of the 28 shots he faced, while the power play was held scoreless on its only chance. Cincinnati is back on home ice Saturday, when they welcome in the Orlando Solar Bears. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:35pm.
