Loveland, CO - Colton Beck notched four points Friday night to take the outright lead in the ECHL scoring race, but it wasn't enough as the Idaho Steelheads (5-7-4) fell in overtime to the Colorado Eagles (5-8-2), 5-4 at Budweiser Events Center.

Jake Marto's breakaway goal, his first of the season, was the difference-maker just 43 seconds into overtime. The Steelheads moved to 2-4 in games moving past regulation, and 1-4 in games decided in the overtime session.

The Steelheads earned their first lead of the contest at 6:48 of the third period when a nifty pass from Rob Linsmayer out in front of the net found a streaking Taylor Peters and an open cage to make it a 4-3 game. The Steelheads weren't able to hold that third period lead for a second straight night, however, as Jesse Mychan's rebound goal off a Sean Zimmerman shot rolled over Maxime Lagace and over the goal line to tie the game and force overtime.

It was another standout night for the Steelheads top line, with Taylor Peters, Rob Linsmayer, and Colton Beck all scoring a goal. It was a three point night for Linsmayer and Peters, with both players earning assists on the goals of their linemates. Beck also earned an assist on Brandon Magee's first period power play goal, giving him 22 points on the year (8-14-22). It's Beck's fourth multipoint game in his last five, seventh of the season, and 18th in 81 career regular season games.

Beck, Linsmayer, or Peters have factored in on the Steelheads' last 15 consecutive goals.

The Steelheads trailed three times in the game, with Magee, Linsmayer, and Beck all scoring to draw the Steelheads even. Christian Isackson opened the scoring for Colorado at 4:05 of the first. Kyle Kraemer, playing in his first game back with the Eagles after a trade earlier in the week, scored a power play goal and a short-handed goal. The Steelheads have surrendered three shorthanded goals on the season.

The Steelheads did earn a point with the overtime outcome. Coupled with Utah's loss to Rapid City, the Steelheads moved within five points of the first-place Grizzlies in the division. The Rapid City Rush move into a tie with Idaho in the standings with 14 points, but hold three games in hand on the Steelheads.

The Steelheads and Eagles wrap up their three-game set on Saturday night at Budweiser Events Center, with puck-drop scheduled for 7:05pm MT.
