Alaska Aces News Release

MOLINE, ILLINOIS - Two third period power play goals turned a Quad City deficit into a lead, and an empty-netter sealed the deal as the Mallards came back to defeat the Alaska Aces 4-2 Friday at the iWireless Center in Moline.

Joe Perry got the Aces (5-10-0-2) off to a good start with a goal from the slot that hit a defenseman and slid behind Mallards goaltender Steve Michalek at 11:11.

It looked that goal would hold up to the end of the period, but it would not as with just seconds to go, former Ace Olivier Archambault sent a puck off the side of the Alaska net and over to Alex Gudbranson, who shot quickly and bounced the puck off Aces netminder Troy Redmann and into the net with just one second to go in the period. That Quad City (7-5-1-2) goal knotted the game at 1.

In the second period, Alaska would get a power play goal courtesy of Guillume Gelinas' cross checking infraction. Defenseman Landon Oslanski let fly a low blast that zipped under Michalek and into the back of the net. Assists went to Stephen Perfetto and Davis Vandane, his first point with Alaska.

Alaska's 2-1 lead would last until 8:55 of the third period. With Ace Ben Lake off on a hooking penalty, Mike Monfredo would unleash a shot from the blueline that eluded Redmann and tied the game at 2. Then, with Tim Coffman in the box for a tripping infraction, Jake Baker would score what proved to be the game-winning goal with his blast from long range. Tanner Eberle converted an empty-net goal with 34 seconds to go and Quad City skated off with their 7th win of the season.

Michalek finished with 26 saves for the win. Redmann had 28 saves and was saddled with the loss.

Alaska completed its first extended road trip with a 1-5 record. The Aces are off until Friday, November 27th when they entertain Evansville in a three-game series at the Sullivan Arena.

The Aces return home for a three-game series with Evansville starting Friday, November 27. Get your tickets by stopping by the Aces ticket office Monday through Friday from 9-5 at 15th and Gambell, or go online at www.alaskaaces.com.
