MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Norfolk Admirals lost their fourth straight game in a road loss to their East Division opponents, the Manchester Monarchs.

After two scoreless periods, the Monarchs quickly got out to a 2-0 lead only minutes into the third. The two goals were scored 34 seconds apart from one another, and both occurred on power-play opportunities. The Admirals were able to score half-way through the third to close the deficit, except Manchester escaped with a 2-1 victory.

The action ramped up in the final period. After an interference and slashing minor on Joe Marciano and Ben Betker, respectively, Manchester found themselves with a 5-on-3 opportunity. David Kolomatis sent a pass to fellow Monarch defensemen, Michael Boivin. Boivin one-timed a shot into goal along the left wing, with traffic in front of the net.

Boivin's first goal of the season occurred with only three seconds remaining on the 5-on-3 power play, 3:05 of the last period. Unfortunately, Manchester still had 1:05 left on the Betker slashing minor, giving them another power-play opportunity to widen their 1-0 lead.

Just 34 seconds later, Manchester forward Matt Leitner scored his fourth goal of the year. Sauve skated down the high slot and sent a pass to Leitner on the left wing. Leitner's wrist shot beat the Admiral's goaltender, on a 5-on-4 chance 3:39 into the final period.

Once the game reached even strength, Norfolk was able to notch the scoreboard with 9:58 left in the game. Steven Whitney sent a saucer pass up the left-hand side of the ice to Tommy Mele, where he sent a hard shot from the bottom of the left-wing circle to tighten the margin, 2-1. Whitney and Verpaelst assisted Mele's fourth goal of the season.

Within the final 90 seconds of gameplay, Norfolk pulled their goalie for a sixth attacker, but to no avail as Manchester held on for a 2-1 home victory.

Norfolk's newest addition between the pipes, Tyler Beskorowany, made his first appearance for the Admirals tonight. The 6-foot-5 and 205-pound goaltender stopped 44 of the 46 shots sent his direction. Manchester goaltender Michael Houser saved 42-43 shots, earning him the first star of the evening. Each team had three power-play opportunities with Manchester capitalizing on two of their chances.

The Admirals remain in New Hampshire this weekend as they continue their three-game road series against the Manchester Monarchs. Saturday night's matchup will begin at 7:00 p.m., while the puck drops at 3:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
