January 8, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Kansas City Mavericks News Release
Independence, MO (January 8, 2014)- The Missouri Mavericks are proud to announce that Chris Crane has been named to the 2015 CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic roster and will compete in Orlando, Florida on January 21st.
More than 60 players from the ECHL All-Star Game have gone on to play in the National Hockey League, including 46 since 2002 when the lineups began having players who coaches felt were prospects to move up to a higher level.
Crane was assigned to the Missouri Mavericks by the Worcester Sharks (AHL) on November 8th ahead of the Mavs 2014 home-opener at Independence Events Center.
The West Chester, OH native is currently tied for the leading goal-scorer spot on the Mavs, with 11 goals through 27 games in a Missouri sweater. The forward has tallied 6 assists and 23 penalty minutes so far this season.
Crane, a seventh round draft pick of San Jose in the 2010 NHL Draft, has played 11 total games in Worcester (one this season). The 6-1, 190-pound forward played 67 games in the ECHL prior to the start of this season, seeing action with San Francisco and Ontario. In those games, Crane combined to score 10 goals with 13 assists.
The twenty-three year old forward's amateur career began in the United States Hockey League playing with Green Bay (2008-2010) and then concluded at his home-state school, Ohio State University (2010-2013).
The ECHL All-Star Fan Fest, presented by Walgreen's, with player appearances, interactive game, prizes, giveaways, auctions, memorabilia, and a special Hockey Hall of Fame exhibit, will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 20. On Wednesday, Jan. 21, the day's events include the ECHL Hall of Fame Luncheon and the 2015 CCM / ECHL All-Star Classic presented by Visit Orlando. Select ECHL Skills competitions will be held the same night and will be incorporated into the evening's events.
