September 4, 2025 - WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - A new era of hockey in Winston-Salem will begin on September 24th, as the Thunderbirds professional hockey franchise introduces a new logo, jersey, and formally welcomes new ownership into the organization. Thunderbirds Acquire Kyle Russell, Jagger Benson from Rock Lobsters

September 3, 2025 - WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Carolina Thunderbirds, proud members of the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL), have acquired defenseman Kyle Russell and forward/defenseman Jagger Benson from the Athens Rock Lobsters in exchange for forward Dawson Baker. Kyle Russell, 23, Defenseman, of Dallas, Texas, skated in thirty-five games last season for Athens. He scored one goal and recorded ten assists for a total of eleven points. Thunderbirds Sign Noah Hippolyte-Smith to PTO

September 1, 2025 - WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Carolina Thunderbirds, proud members of the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL), have signed forward Noah Hippolyte-Smith to a professional tryout contract (PTO) ahead of the 2025-2026 season. Noah Hippolyte-Smith, 26, Forward, of Milton, Ontario, appeared in fifty-four games last season for the Biloxi Breakers (formerly Mississippi Sea Wolves). Thunderbirds Acquire Defenseman Joshua Liu from River Dragons

August 25, 2025 - WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Carolina Thunderbirds, proud members of the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL), have acquired defenseman Joshua Liu in a transaction with the Columbus River Dragons in exchange for future considerations. Joshua Liu, 19, Defenseman, of Toronto, Ontario, joins the Thunderbirds after appearing in six games last season for the Columbus River Dragons.
