Twin City Thunderbirds News Release
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Twin City Thunderbirds are set to host the Pee Dee IceCats tonight at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Arena. Tonight's game is First Responders Night. Tickets are still available, and may be purchased online at WSFairgrounds.com, Ticketmaster.com, or by calling the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Arena Box Office at (336) 727-2236. Puck drop for tonight's showdown between the Thunderbirds and IceCats is scheduled for 7:35pm ET.
Twin City (24-27-1) enters this weekend's home series six points behind Pee Dee for the final playoff spot in the FPHL's Continental Division standings. The Thunderbirds are 5-5-0 in the last ten games, and posted a thrilling 4-3 overtime victory over the Athens Rock Lobsters last Saturday night at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Arena. Kayson Gallant netted the game-winning goal in overtime to seal the win for Twin City. The scoring play was Gallant's seventh in eleven games played with the Thunderbirds this season. Twin City has won seven of eleven games played against Pee Dee in head-to-head matchups this season. Scoring leaders for the Thunderbirds entering this weekend's two-game series against the IceCats include Zach White (26), Roman Kraemer (25), and Kayson Gallant (20). Twin City will return to action tomorrow night in a road game against Pee Dee at the Florence Center. Puck drop is set for 7:15pm ET.
Pee Dee (24-24-4) enters this weekend two-game series against Twin City with a chance to clinch a berth in the 2026 Commissioner's Cup Playoffs. A regulation win in tonight's game over the Thunderbirds would give the IceCats 78 points in the standings, and would ensure the team's advantage in the Regulation Wins tiebreaker. A non-regulation win, or a loss of any kind would extend Pee Dee's clinching scenarios into tomorrow's home game at the Florence Center. The IceCats have posted a 4-5-1 record over the last ten games, and enter tonight's road game following a 4-0 road loss last Saturday night to the Blue Ridge Bobcats. Scoring leaders for Pee Dee through fifty-two games played in the 2025-2026 regular season include Alexander Legkov (38), Patriks Marcinkevics (38), and Elijah Wilson (19).
