Rochester Red Wings News Release

The Rochester Red Wings defeated the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 5-4, Friday night at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, PA. 2B Jake Noll collected three doubles in the win while SS Richie Martin extended his on-base streak to a team leading 23 games.

The IronPigs jumped on the board in the 3rd inning, scoring a pair of runs off former Red Wing outfielder Jake Cave's solo shot and a sacrifice fly from current Red Wings killer 1B Darick Hall. The Wings left seven men on base through the first four innings, leaving the bases loaded in the fourth, but were unable to plate a run.

Rochester broke through in the sixth inning after 2B Jake Noll tallied his second double of the evening, later scoring on an infield single by CF Eric Mejia. Lehigh Valley answered in the bottom half of the inning, when CF Simon Muzziotti delivered a two-out knock, scoring LF Weston Wilson and extending the IronPig lead to 3-1.

In the 8th, 2B Jake Noll smoked his third double of the evening off the left field wall, plating RF Nomar Mazara and bringing the Wings within one run. The following batter, C Drew Millas, collected a double of his own, scoring Noll, tying the game at three a piece. CF Erick Mejia one upped both Noll and Millas, securing a go ahead triple on a rocket line drive that bounced off the left-center field wall, giving the Wings a 4-3 advantage.

Lehigh Valley wasted no time evening the score at 4 a piece with a sac-fly off the bat of C Rafael Marchan that scored PR Jim Haley. Wings RF Nomar Mazara responded in the top of the 9th, with a game-winning base hit that scored 1B Travis Blankenhorn.

RHP Joan Adon (2-5, 4.81) tossed 6.0 innings, surrendering three runs and three walks while striking out five in the no-decision. The Wings starter recorded his fifth quality start of the season, and third in the month of June. Wings LHP Tim Cate relieved Adon in his Triple-A debut, logging a strikeout in 0.2 innings of work while RHP Luis Reyes contributed with his 0.2 innings of work before turning it over to RHP Gerson Moreno who collected the win (5-4), working the final 1.2 innings.

2B Jake Noll earned Diamond Pro Player of the Game Friday evening after he went 3-for-5, with a career-high three doubles, an RBI and a pair of runs scored. Noll is the second Wing to collect three doubles in a game this season (Derek Hill, 5/27 @TOL). The last time Rochester had an individual three double performance against the Phillies top affiliate was Randy Cesar on 4/2019.

If Noll had collected four doubles in tonight's contest, it would have been the first time a Wing had done so since current IronPig Jake Cave did it as a member of the Red Wings on June 6, 2019 against Syracuse.

The Wings return to action tomorrow night in Allentown as LHP Anthony Banda gets the nod for Rochester, coming off his best performance of the 2023 campaign (5.0 IP, R, 2H, 7K). The IronPigs will send southpaw LHP Bailey Falter to the mound, with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m.
