Charlotte Knights News Release

(NORFOLK, VA) -- Outfielder Oscar Colás has been on a historic tear. It continued on Friday night.

Colás launched two home runs, but the Charlotte Knights lost to the Norfolk Tides by a score of 5-4 in 10 innings in on Friday night in game three of a six-game series from Harbor Park in Norfolk, VA. Charlotte RHP Nick Padilla (2-1, 4.23) walked in the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning with the bases loaded to give the Tides a third consecutive win in the series.

The Knights held a 4-3 lead into the ninth inning thanks to Colás, who recorded his second two-homer game since Saturday, June 24. In fact, Colás, who homered in the fourth inning and seventh inning of Friday's game, now has six home runs over his last five games. The Cuban native also extended his hit streak to eight consecutive games and has scored at least one run in five consecutive games. The red-hot outfielder is now hitting .297 with eight home runs on the season for the Knights.

With a 4-3 lead, the Knights handed the ball to RHP Bryan Shaw in the bottom of the ninth inning to close out the game. The Tides ended up tying the game at 4-4 thanks to an RBI groundout by Daz Cameron in the ninth. One inning later, Padilla had his troubles and eventually walked Joey Ortiz with the bases loaded, which scored Maverick Handley for the winning run.

LHP Garrett Davila was sharp over six innings of work on Friday night. Davila, who did not factor in the decision, gave up three runs on seven hits over six strong innings. He walked three and struck out five batters on the evening.

With the loss, the Knights are now 0-3 to begin the second half of the 2023 season.

The Knights will play game four of the six-game series against the Norfolk Tides (Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles) on Saturday night from Harbor Park in Norfolk, VA. The "Voice of the Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call for all of the action on www.CharlotteKnights.com. First pitch on Saturday is set for 6:35 p.m. from the home of the Tides.
