
Wilson's Homer Hands Cougars Series Loss

Geneva, Illinois - The Kane County Cougars (69-52, 34-18) took a 3-2 loss against the Peoria Chiefs (46-75, 16-36) on Thursday night at Northwestern Medicine Field in front of 6,918 fans. Alexis Wilson's eighth inning homer clinched the game and series for Peoria.
The Cougars found the scoreboard first with a Tra Holmes RBI single in the third inning. The Chiefs grabbed two runs in the top of the fourth inning. Brendan Donovan tied the score with an RBI single. The next batter, Imeldo Diaz, gave the Chiefs the lead with a run-scoring double. The Cougars knotted up the score in the fifth on Zack Shannon's RBI knock.
In the eighth, Alexis Wilson led off for Peoria and belted a ball high and deep down the left field line and snuck one inside the foul pole for a go-ahead solo shot.
Wilson's homer was the only run given up by Cougar reliever Chester Pimentel (4-6), who suffered the loss in 3.1 innings on the mound. Franyel Casadilla (4-4) earned the win with three shutout innings of relief. Freddy Pacheco (3) worked a 1-2-3 ninth to earn the save.
