Brampton Beast News Release

BRAMPTON - The Brampton Beast (9-16-1) showed resilience climbing back from a 4-1 second period deficit, but ultimately their comeback bid came up short against the Toledo Walleye (20-5-3) as they fell by a score of 6-3.

Tyler Donati led the way for the Beast with a goal and an assist to extend his point streak to three games. Justin Donati also extended his point streak to three games with a goal in the second period, while Grant Rollheiser made 20 saves in the loss on ugly jersey night.

The game began with both teams trading chances in the offensive zone until eight minutes into the period when Toledo's Martin Frk was sent off for hooking. Tic-tac-toe passing led to Chad Painchaud finding Tyler Donati in the high slot, who beat the Walleye's Jeff Lerg with a wrist shot. David Ling picked up his first point in a Beast uniform with an assist on the play.

The Walleyes came back to tie it less than two minutes later when Shane Berschbach netted his tenth of the season on a one-timer from Anthony Luciani.

A Beast turnover inside the Walleye blue line with just under two minutes left in the first period led to a 2-on-0 breakaway and an easy goal by Toledo's Frk to send the Walleye into the first intermission up 2-1.

The second period started much like the first ended, when Luciani took a big hit at the Beast blue line to make a pass to Kyle Bonis, who beat Rollheiser high blocker-side.

A give-and-go passing play less than two minutes later between Toledo's Alden Hirschfeld and Martin Frk led to an easy goal by Hirschfeld to put the Walleye up 4-1.

Things got interesting for the home team when Justin Donati's first goal as a member of the Beast at 6:04 of the second period put Brampton within two again.

Moments later, Jason Pitton finished off a gorgeous passing play with less than five minutes left in the period to score his tenth of the season and reduce the deficit by one before the end of the period.

That would be as close as the Beast would come, as the Walleye sealed the win with third period goals by Troy Schwab and Justin Mercier.
