
Stingrays Game Preview: Stingrays and Road Warriors Collide for East-Division Points Tonight

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays visit the Greenville Road Warriors tonight at 7:00 p.m. at the Bon Secours Wellness in Greenville, South Carolina. Tonight is the eighth of 14 meetings between to the two division rivals this season.
Series Breakdown:
The Stingrays hold a 4-1-0-2 head-to-head record against the Road Warriors this season and are currently on a four-game winning streak against the in-state rival. Forward Cody Sylvester is tied for the Stingrays team lead with five points (two goals, three assists) against the Road Warriors. Only four points separate the two teams in the East Division.
Extension on the Holidays?
The Stingrays enter tonight's matchup on a seven-game point streak (6-0-1-0). On Thanksgiving, the Stingrays held an overall record of 4-9-0-4 and have since gone unbeaten in 12 of the last 13 games (11-1-1-0) and earned an 8-1-1 record in December.
Protecting the Lead:
Both the Stingrays and Road Warriors boast impressive records when leading after the first and second periods. The Stingrays are 8-1-1-2 after the opening frame and 11-0-0-3 after two periods. Greenville is 10-0-0-0 and 12-0-0-0 respectively.
Team Defense Shines:
The Stingrays and Road Warriors sit among the top four ECHL clubs in goals-against average (GAA). Greenville showcases a league-leading 2.53 while the Stingrays are tied for third at 2.67.
Putting Together Points:
Forward Derek DeBlois is currently on a four-game point streak with four points (two goals, two assists), forward and former Road Warriors Brandon Hynes is on a three-game assist streak (three assists) and forward Patrick Gaul is riding a four-game point streak with one goal and three assists for four points.
Jakaitis and Morrison Standing Tall:
Goaltenders Jeff Jakaitis and Adam Morrison sit second and third in the ECHL with a 2.06 and 2.09 goals-against average.
