December 30, 2014 - ECHL (ECHL)
Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
LAST WEEK'S RECAP
Overall Picture: The Greenville Road Warriors (19-10-1), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, returned from their five-day Christmas break last weekend and went 1-1-0 in a pair of games against the Gwinnett Gladiators. The weekend series kicked off a season-long, 12-game homestand that runs through Jan. 17th.
On Friday, Emerson Clark stole the show when he scored twice, and fought Gwinnett's James McEwan, to lead the Road Warriors to a 5-3 win on SANDLAPPER Securities Rink. The victory extended Greenville's winning streak to a season-high five games and boosted the number of games the team has gone without a regulation defeat to 10 for the first time since a streak that spanned from Nov. 24, 2010 - Dec. 11, 2010. Between the pipes, Jason Missiaen (8-4-1) made 31 saves and improved his personal winning streak to five games for the first time in his professional career. The reigning CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week was recalled to AHL Hartford by New York following the game and left Greenville with a record of 6-0-1 in his last seven starts.
Just 24 hours later, the Road Warriors tallied a season-high 43 shots in a rematch with Gwinnett at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena, but Gladiators' forward Travis Ouellette scored the game-winning goal with less than five minutes remaining in a 3-2 decision. Despite 36 saves, the loss snapped goaltender Jeff Malcolm's personal three-game winning streak and dropped him to 6-1-0 at home this season.

QUICK SHIFTS
Saponari Staying Hot: Forward Vinny Saponari continues to impress in his first season with the Road Warriors, leading the team in both points (23) and assists (15), and moving up to third on the squad with a +16 rating. In fact, the 24-year old is currently on a four-game point streak and has earned at least one point in eight of his last nine contests overall (2g, 13a). Saponari also leads the team with six multi-point games this season after recording two assists in both contests last weekend.
December to Remember: Despite Saturday's 3-2 loss to Gwinnett, the Road Warriors are enjoying one of their most successful months in team history. Greenville is currently 8-1-1 this month with just one game remaining, which equals the team's best December performance in franchise history (the Road Warriors also started the month 8-1-1 during the 2010-11 season). Greenville has outscored its opponents 33-17 this month.
Home Sweet Home: After playing 20 of its first 28 games on the road, Greenville continues a season-long, 12-game homestand with four games this week. The Road Warriors are currently 8-2-0 on SANDLAPPER Securities Rink this season, which marks the third-best record at home for any team in the league - trailing only Florida (9-1-1) and Allen (10-2-1). Greenville has also outscored its opponents 35-22 at home this season and has won six of its last seven games at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
Keeping Perfect: The Road Warriors are 10-0-0 when leading after one period, 12-0-0 when leading after two periods and 16-0-0 when the team scores at least three goals in a game this season. Greenville is also a perfect 6-0-0 when the same goaltender plays back-to-back days.
