KALAMAZOO- History was made on Saturday, as Sam Ftorek became the ECHL's all-time leader in games played (790); however the Toledo Walleye spoiled the party with a 5-2 victory over the Kalamazoo Wings at the Huntington Center.

Making up for a scoreless opening period, the teams combined for five goals in the second. Toledo struck first 4:07 into the middle frame with a tally from Alden Hirshfeld (7th).

Responding five minutes later, Nathan Longpre (7th) deflected an Eric Kattelus slap shot over the shoulder of Neil Conway to even the game at 1-1.

Wasting no time, the Walleye fired back with a pair of goals just over one minute apart. Off a face-off win in the K-Wings zone, Justin Mercier (6th) scored on a backhander to put the Walleye back ahead. Moments later, it was Tyler Barnes (11th) pushing the Walleye lead to two goals by redirecting a Marek Tvrdon wrister.

Answering late in the period, Curtis Valk recorded his team-leading eight goal of the season to cut the deficit to a single goal. Seven of Valk's eight goals this season have occurred on the road.

Pulling away in the third period, Toledo secured the victory with goals from Martin Frk (6th) and the second of the game from Mercier (7th).
