Utah Grizzlies News Release

Ontario, California - The Ontario Reign held on to beat the Utah Grizzlies 2-1 Friday Night at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Utah outshot the Reign 29-19 in the game and drew eight of 13 power-plays, but clanged several posts and were unable to overcome a great performance from Ontario goaltender Jussi Olkinuora.

Grizzlies goaltender Igor Bobkov returned to the Grizzlies for the first time this year after being assigned directly from Anaheim yesterday and stopped 17 of 19 shots for Utah.

Ontario scored late in the first and early in the second period to build a 2-0 lead before the Grizzlies outshot them 23-11 the rest of the way and drew six of the final nine power-plays.

Mathieu Aubin got Utah on the board 6:45 into the third period as he fired a puck in from the wall with Jacob Johnston and Matt Pelech drawing assists.

The Grizzlies went shorthanded late as they were whistled for a major penalty, but still got some final chances as they pulled Bobkov for an extra attacker, but as was the story all night, the puck just wouldn't go in.

The Grizzlies will be in Bakersfield Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
