Utah Grizzlies: Hottest Team In West
February 13, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release
In A Nutshell
Utah wraps up their seven-game home stand Wednesday and Friday hosting Stockton. Utah is the hottest team in the ECHL's West Division.
Four In A Row
Following Saturday's 3-2 shootout win over rival Las Vegas, the Utah Grizzlies have won four games in a row. That is their longest winning streak since they hammered out nine straight from October 29-November 24.
Winning The Close Ones
Utah's last three wins have come by just one goal. The Grizzlies are 8-4-2 in one-goal games played at the E-Center and 11-7-4 in one-goal games played overall.
It's How You Start
Over the last six games, the Grizzlies are outscoring their opposition 9-2 in the first period.
Craig Returns
ECHL All-Star Matt Craig returned to the Grizzlies lineup Friday versus San Diego following an AHL callup with the Manitoba Moose. The 23-year-old rookie did not play with Manitoba following an injury early on in practice. Despite being out of the Utah lineup for nearly a month, he still is second among ECHL rookies with 22 goals scored and is tied for second overall with five game-winning goals.
Kinasewich And Multi-Point Evenings.
With two multi-point nights in three games played this week, Ryan Kinasewich now has at least two points in 17 of 38 games played this year with the Grizzlies.
Who's Hot
Garett Cameron now has a current team-high, six-game point streak (four goals, four assists) working for Utah. Cameron has sixteen goals and seventeen assists overall for Utah in 49 games played; but has turned it on since late November. He had just four points in Utah's first ten games.
The Law Of Averages Will Soon Apply
28 home games played by the Grizzlies is an ECHL high. Saturday was Utah's final Saturday home game of the year. After Friday, the Grizzlies have just six regular season games left at the E-Center.
Natural Born Penalty Killers
Over the last four games, the Grizzlies have killed 18 of 19 shorthanded situations, and are no longer last in the ECHL in penalty killing. Looking at trends, during the first four games of their previously mentioned nine-game winning streak, the Grizzlies killed 26 of 27 shorthanded situations.
