Steelheads Take Half At Home

BOISE, Idaho - On Saturday, the Idaho Steelheads wrapped up its only three home games at Qwest Arena this month, and took half of a possible six points from the visiting Bakersfield Condors. After playing 48 games of a 72-game schedule, Idaho is now 12-10-5 at home and 14-6-1 on the road. The team hopes to keep its ‘road' winning-ways alive as it heads to California to take on three West Coast opponents in four games this week, beginning Tuesday night in Fresno.

STEELHEADS BITES: Team-

- Steelheads have scored 5 or more goals in 5 of their last 10 games - Steelheads are 12-1-0 this season when allowing less than 3 goals in a game; Steelheads have failed to allow less than 3 goals in any of their last 11 contests

- Steelheads next six games are on the road, and five of the six are against clubs with a .500 record or better

Individual-

- Rookie Dan Hacker has averaged a point-a-game in his first nine professional games-played; 9 points (4g, 5a)...his 4 goals include his first professional tally, a short-handed goal, a two-goal game, and a game-winning goal.

- Veteran winger Scott Burt has points in five of his last seven outings, totaling 3 goals and 4 assists - Leading scorer Garett Bembridge is without a goal in his last five games (season-high) but has picked up 6 assists in the last four games... Bembridge leads the ECHL with 71 points in 48 games and is still on pace to become the first player since 2002-03 to score 100 points, and despite not scoring a goal in his last five games he still can become the first player to score 50 goals since 2000-01.

COMMUNITY: This is the last month for local children to earn hockey tickets, a cap and a free skate with the Steelheads on March 6th (5:30 - 6:30 pm), thanks to the Qwest Hat Trick Reading Program sponsored by the Idaho Steelheads and Qwest in partnership with local public libraries. Children ages 5-13 receive the rewards for scoring three goals, known as a hat trick in hockey terminology. The program runs through February 28, 2006. A bookmark with details can by picked up at participating libraries (Boise, Ada Community, Eagle, Garden City and Meridian).
