Augusta Lynx News Release
Tuesday, February 14 vs. Gwinnett Gladiators - 7:35 pm
The Lynx will take on the Gladiators for the seventh time this year, with Augusta holding a 3-2-1 edge in the season series. This game will mark the third meeting of the year at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center, where Augusta is 2-0-0 on the season against Gwinnett. Nicolas Corbeil leads the Lynx in scoring for the season series with two goals and six points in five games, while Gwinnett's Guillaume Desbiens leads all scorers in the season series with three goals and seven points. Augusta's Jason Wolfe is 3-0-0 against Gwinnett this year, posting a 2.27 GAA and a .945 save percentage in the season series.
Friday, February 16 vs. Pensacola Ice Pilots - 7:35 pm
The two teams enter Friday's action having split the season series right down the middle, with each club winning and losing a game at home so far. Pensacola's Luke Fulghum has two goals and six points against the Lynx in those four games. Only Frederic Cloutier has defeated the Lynx in net this year, going 2-0-0 with a 2.00 GAA and .947 save percentage. Both Cloutier and fellow netminder Todd Ford are currently on recall to the American Hockey League and may not be back in time for this weekend's action.
Saturday, February 17 vs. Columbia - 7:35 pm
It has been a mere 76 days since Augusta last played the Columbia Inferno way back on December 3rd, a 5-3 Lynx win. Since then the formerly hot Inferno have cooled, enduring a stretch in which they went 13 games without a win and falling out of the American Conference's Southern Division playoff picture. But recently Columbia has turned things around and are fighting to get back to the sixth and final playoff spot where the Lynx currently reside. Augusta has three games in hand over the Inferno with a one point lead heading into this week's action. Including Saturday's game, the two clubs will only meet four more times, so every point is critical as they play their way down the stretch.
Week In Review
Friday, February 10 - Augusta 2 vs. Charlotte 5
Augusta opened and closed the scoring in the game with power play markers from Brian Passmore and Martin Lapointe, but in between Charlotte scored five times on starter Mike Wall to cruise to a 5-2 win. Jason Wolfe stopped all 11 shots faced in relief, but the Lynx could not find the scoring needed to come back in the contest, giving the Checkers the win.
Saturday, February 11 - Augusta 2 vs. Trenton 3 SO
The two clubs traded power play goals throughout regulation, heading to overtime tied at 2-2. No scoring in the extra session resulted in a shootout, where the Titans converted on three of five attempts while the Lynx could mark only twice. With the win, Augusta earned just their second point (0-2-2-) in four tries all time against the Titans.
