STORM NOTES
- Explosion! Sunday afternoon the Storm exploded to a 7-1 win over Johnstown. That win ended a season high three game-losing streak for the Storm. Toledo also scored 7 the last time it tasted a victory, defeating Wheeling 7-3 on December 2, 2005.
- On the Home Ice! Despite falling in 2 of the 3 home games this past weekend, Toledo is still excellent at the Toledo Sports Arena. At home this year, Toledo is 9-3-2.
- Multiple Point Night! In Toledo's 7-1 win Sunday afternoon, the Storm had 6 players with more than 1 point in the game. The rundown is as follows: Bracken Kearns had a goal and an assist, Jeff Doyle had a goal and an assist, Ken Magowan collected 2 goals and 2 assists, Jeff Attard assisted on 3 goals, B.J. Adams had a goal and an assist, and Adam Keefe found the back of the net twice.
- Power Play! Toledo went 2 for 4 on the power play Sunday afternoon. For the season, the Storm have scored 30 power play goals in 149 chances (20.1%), which ranks 10th in the 25 team ECHL. The 149 attempts are the fourth most in the ECHL, as only Alaska (163), Columbia (153), and South Carolina (151) have had more.
- Penalty Kill! The Storm is ranked 18th in the league in kill percentage at 80.2%. Toledo has allowed 26 goals in 131 times shorthanded this year.
STORM WATCH
- Storm Coach's Show! The Toledo Storm Coach's Show is this Tuesday evening from 6-7pm at the Maumee Bay Brewing Company inside the Oliver House, Downtown Toledo. Head Coach Nick Vitucci and Storm forward Bracken Kearns will join Matt Melzak for insight and conversation on the start of the 2005-06 season and what lies ahead for the Storm. The Storm Coach's Show can be heard live on Dominion 1520 JAMZ, which is the home of Toledo Storm Hockey.
- Storm Action! The Toledo Storm return to action this Friday night at the Columbia Inferno. The Storm want to improve on a 1-4-1 road record. "We have to play consistent hockey on the road," said Head Coach Nick Vitucci when addressing the road record. "If you look at nearly every road game to date, we have taken some time off." Columbia is 12-8-2 on the season and is currently in a tie with Florida for first in the South Division. Former Trenton Titan Leon Hayward is leading the Inferno in scoring with 10 goals and 7 assists. Toledo is 1-0-0 all-time against the Inferno, winning 3-2 at Columbia on January 9, 2004. Former Storm forward John Longo has 3 goals and 4 assists for Columbia. Saturday night features a meeting with the Gwinnett Gladiators. This will be the first ever meeting between these two teams. Gwinnett is 11-5-3 on the season, and is led by Pascal Pelletier (14g, 11a). Tuesday December 20th, the Storm will wrap up its three-game Southern swing with a match up in Greenville. Toledo is 2-1-0 against the Grrrowl all-time despite all three meetings being in Greenville, and won the last meeting 7-1 on January 13, 2004. Greenville will be in Toledo on March 4, 2006 to play in the Toledo Sports Arena for the first time ever.
STORM PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Gerry Burke (2 goals - 1 assist = 3 points, Plus 3)
Gerry scored his third and fourth goals of the season Friday and Saturday
nights. Burke was also a plus player in all three weekend games.
STORM GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:
David Cann (1-1-0, 3.00 gaa, 0.910 save%)
David rebounded nicely Sunday afternoon, allowing just one goal.
